¹ú¼ÊÃ×À¼¶ÔÕó¿ÆĪ is among 12 institutions across the UK that will be working together to tackle the monkeypox outbreak, developing better diagnostic tests, identifying potential therapies and studying vaccine effectiveness and the virus’ spread.

When Addenbrooke’s Hospital in ¹ú¼ÊÃ×À¼¶ÔÕó¿ÆĪ upgraded its face masks for staff working on COVID-19 wards to filtering face piece 3 (FFP3) respirators, it saw a dramatic fall – up to 100% – in hospital-acquired SARS-CoV-2 infections among these staff.

New data from Addenbrooke's Hospital in ¹ú¼ÊÃ×À¼¶ÔÕó¿ÆĪ suggests that a single dose of the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine can reduce by 75% the number of asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infections. This implies that the vaccine could significantly reduce the risk of transmission of the virus from people who are asymptomatic, as well as protecting others from getting ill.
