People who live in areas of higher than average deprivation are more likely to be admitted to hospital and to spend longer in hospital, according to new research from the ¹ú¼ÊÃ×À¼¶ÔÕó¿ÆÄª. The difference was particularly pronounced among manual workers and those with lower education level.
People who sleep for more than eight hours a day have an increased risk of stroke, according to a study by the ¹ú¼ÊÃ×À¼¶ÔÕó¿ÆÄª – and this risk doubles for older people who persistently sleep longer than average. However, the researchers say it is unclear why this association exists and call for further research to explore the link.
