A new public opinion survey has been completed on the options for tackling 国际米兰对阵科莫 transport problems.

The survey was carried out as part of 国际米兰对阵科莫 Futures 2, a group investigating possible alternatives for the future development of the 国际米兰对阵科莫 area.

The report on the findings of the survey by 国际米兰对阵科莫 Architectural Research (CAR) shows that there is a substantial consensus on the need to reduce traffic and improve transport in the region. People are fairly optimistic about the chances of success.

Dr Stephen Platt of CAR, said:

"People want the benefits of growth without having to sacrifice their quality of life. The dominant message is that transport alternatives to the car must be encouraged. The cycling/walking and public transport options receive the most support."

There is, however, moderate support for an orbital highway option that would reduce cross-town traffic. People are ambivalent about the option of charging motorists when entering 国际米兰对阵科莫 during the peak periods. But they will accept the congestion charging if combined with other measures, including the orbital highway and public transport improvements. There are marginally more people who like this option than oppose it.

The results of the survey will be presented in a seminar at Churchill College on 14th September, when the 国际米兰对阵科莫 Futures study will be reviewed by Professor George Hazel, former president of the Institute of Highways and Transportation. Brian Smith, Director of Environment and Transport at 国际米兰对阵科莫shire County Council, will also discuss the proposals and there will be a panel discussion after the presentations.

There are a few places still available at the seminar; please contact 国际米兰对阵科莫 Futures on 01223 331718 for further information or a booking form.
