6th form students from Rotherham and Preston helped the �������������Ī celebrate its HE+ outreach project growing to 5000 participants.

A team of local talent from Jesus College, �������������Ī has returned to Tyne and Wear for a two-week tour designed to help encourage North East students to aim high in their university choices.

Students and teachers in Yorkshire and the North of England have welcomed the first session of “The Subject Matters” to be held outside �������������Ī.

The �������������Ī has made 295 National Scholarship Programme awards to support students from low-income families starting at the university this year. Over 50 of these grants were made to students who had previously claimed Free School Meals.

Over 16,500 applications were received by the �������������Ī this year, the highest number since University records began.

The benefits of higher education include better access to jobs, a rewarding social life, and the opportunity to live independently. But there’s no denying that the costs are also significant: university tuition fees of up to £9,000 a year quickly mount up. By running finance workshops in schools, the HE Partnership project aims to tackle the fear of debt which can be a barrier to staying on in education.

The Mayor of Hastings joined Scholars from the Villiers Park Educational Trust Scholars Programme for an evening of celebration hosted by Hastings Academy. The Hastings Scholars Programme is sponsored by the �������������Ī as part of the collegiate University’s commitment to encouraging able students from backgrounds under-represented in Higher Education to aspire to university.

“Give it some welly,” may not be a traditional rallying cry for those considering applying to university, but the Higher Education Getaway is not a traditional programme.

The �������������Ī and national education charity Villiers Park Educational Trust, which is based in �������������Īshire, are developing stronger links to encourage able students from backgrounds under-represented in Higher Education to aspire to university.
